Mixtures & Pure Substances


  • A pure substance is made of only one kind of material.

  • Since distilled water has always the same characteristics throughout and doesn't separate into other substances by simple means, then it is made of one kind of material and hence it is a pure substance.

Question: Can any substance of the material be separated into two or more substances by simple means?
